#3. Swatch this!
I have found the right sketchbook that I already owned for this swatcing project. I got this recently on impulse, but it is actually perfect as the paper is for mixed media, so I will be able to use things like watercolour and pencil in the same book!
I am having a little think on if I want to have any type of structure. I think I will organise by palette or collection and brand. For example, I have a lot of watercolor palettes from many different manufacturers, so palette by palette I will fill up my book.
I will make a tally just for fun, to see how many of each material I have. Off the top of my head, I have: watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, graphite pencil, colored pencils, alcohol markers, fine liners, wax pastels, watersoluble pastels, crayons, oil pastels. That seems like everything I have that can be swatched, who knows I might find something I have forgotton about in the process.
I also need to spend some time this weekend drawing again, for myself and for an art show I am taking part in, I have no idea what subject matter I want to explore so some mindless sketching might help bring that out.
To organise my colours I used this amazing chart from Jennys crayons

This took a long time, but I think it has been worth it. There are a few mistakes here and there but that doesn’t really matter :)
